I have a beloved 10 year old dog. Through the years, he has had a lot of GI issues. A couple of months ago, my vet referred him to a board certified vet internist. She did a colonoscopy and an endo on him and discovered that he has IBD, and besides a lot of medicine, he has to be on a special diet of venison and potatoe. Please keep making Natural Balance® Sweet Potato & Venison Formula!! I have a 9 yr old GSD and a 6 Yr old GSD who have been on your food as of Jan 01, 09 and have never been better. Long story short the 9yr old has been on SDZD all of his life as suggested by my vet and my 6 yr old had been on many and then SDID until changing her to yours as of above mentioned date. My 9 yr old male is now full of energy and whites of eyes white where they had always been pinkish and NO ear infections! My 6 yr old female has had no problems with her stomach since this transition. I work in a high end petshop and this food was suggested to me by my manager. I can't tell you how happy I am and would be thrilled to go into depth so others can experience this for their dogs too. I just wanted to send a thank you your way for providing the Natural Balance® Sweet Potato & Venison Formula dog food. My dog is on a special diet per the vet because he is allergic to certain protiens. He can eat only venison or duck. I have searched for so long to find a food that has strictly only those protiens in it without other underlying fats such as chicken etc. It is very expesive as well to buy from the vet and has been a struggle to do so. I have a beautiful 12 week old puppy named Bella. she has a severe allergy to grain and poultry. We had no idea was happening to her she was scratching like crazy, losing lots of hair and her skin was very red. as soon as we found out what was going on I went to the pet food store and spent a few hours reading all the ingredients in each dog and puppy food. Dear Natural Balance, I just wanted to write and say Thank You for your wonderful dog foods. I own Darwin, a 2 year old black male Pug with horrible allergy problems. His allergies began when he was only 5 months old and over time we have discovered that he is allergic to chicken, beef, pork, salmon, all grains, and artificial flavourings, colourings, and preservatives. As we tried to find a food that Darwin could eat he suffered horribly with diarrhea, ear infections, hives, and skin infections. I am the owner of a 5 year old Akita Cross. When Kaida was only 2, she started exhibiting symptoms of severe food allergies. She was constantly scratching her ears, and appeared unwell. We treated each symptom as they appeared but we were making many return trips to the vet, when they suggested it may be allergies to food. After home cooking for her for over a year, and many trial-and-errors and elimination diets, we discovered she was allergic to Rice, corn, chicken, oats, lamb, and more. Her home-cooked diet consisted mainly of Potato, Bison, Vegetables such as broccoli and carrots, and Fish Oils. It was extremely hard to find a prepared food that she wouldn't react to. We purchased an 8-month old Scottish Deerhound puppy, Hawkeye, last June. At the time, his breeder had him on puppy food which Hawkeye wasn't doing great on this food. We went through all the top brands -- Castor and Pollux, NutroMax, Ultra, etc. -- but loose stools and poor appetite continued until we tried Natural Balance® Sweet Potato & Venison. We wondered why it took us so long to see that that was the food for Hawkeye -- what else would a Deerhound eat?? But in all seriousness, he has done great on this food and loves it. I’m writing this for my Miniature Schnauzer puppy LadyMama (left) … I recently took Lady to the vet because I discovered blood in her urine which I later found out was caused by a severe food allergy also giving her a severe bladder infection all from the dog food she was previously on. Thank you, thank you, thank you! Finally I found a dog food that my very picky eater will eat. I have a 18 mo shih tzu male "Toby" and from the time I brought him home at about 10 weeks he had a terrible problem with itching. Many trips to the vet, lots of searching online, trying different foods and oral meds and still no continued relief. My vet put Toby on a venison and potato diet to rule out food allergies but he just turned his nose up and walked away. Hi there, I just had to email and tell you all how much my dog enjoys your food! We have a year old smooth collie who had the hardest time with foods. They either made him itchy, or made his stools very soft and gave him awful gas. We switched to Natural Balance and all his problems were resolved! I inherited my mother inlaw's scrawny, 12 year old, mini poodle 9 months ago. At that time, he weighed 10 lbs, vomited daily, drank water excessively, and had frequent bowel movements. He had been hand-fed people food most of his life and rice and hamburger for the last year. His coat was dull and lifeless. His blood work showed nothing abnormal. The vet thought his small intestine was irritated and prescribed meds in the a.m. and p.m. for 2 weeks. The vomiting stopped but came back after 2 weeks. I tried 2 preservative, wheat and corn-free diets which helped with the water and bowel problems, but not the barfing. I tried a natural supplement with slippery elm bark, which helped but he still vomited occasionally. FINALLY, I narrowed the problem down to grain allergy. When I read the reviews on the Natural Balance® Sweet Potato & Venison diet, I had him on it cold-turkey that night. That was a month ago and he hasn't vomited since. I added the Fish and Sweet Potato in the a.m. for his coat and he's looking like a show dog! He now weighs 14 pounds and my white carpet is barf-stain free! I switched my dogs to your food about 8 months ago in an effort to take weight off a 6 year old adopted Labrador. Cutting back her food intake, and other "diet" foods left her constantly hungry, and scavenging whenever she could...even stealing from the kitchen counter. Combined with daily exercise, she has lost 12 lbs so far, and her coat has a whole new healthy shine and softness. All 3 of my dogs love the venison/sweet potato diet.
