BALANCE® MEAT-EATING BIRD
(M.E.B.) DIET... |
Natural
Balance® Meat-eating Bird Diet was developed
specifically for meat-eating birds, and is a
preferred diet for those who dislike feeding
their animals either live or frozen prey. Our
M.E.B. Diet was developed, researched and tested
by leading zoo animal keepers, nutritionists,
and veterinarians. This fresh-frozen beef diet
is made from high quality beef which originates
in meat plants governed by the U.S.D.A. Food
Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) and/or
the State of California Animal Health &
Food Safety Service. This diet is nutritionally
complete and needs no additional supplementation;
it does not contain meat by-products or grains
such as corn, wheat, rice or barley.

| FEEDING
GUIDELINES |
M.E.B.
Diet intake varies with a number of factors such as manned
(trained) birds vs. exhibit birds being ‘free-fed’
and whether or not birds are fed whole prey as part of
their diet along with the M.E.B. Diet. When fed only M.E.B.
Diet, a bird will consume between 5 and 10% of its total
body weight. Generally speaking however, 1 gram of whole
prey, i.e. mice, is equal to 1 gram of M.E.B. Diet. It
is recommended that your meat-eating birds be periodically
offered whole prey according to the recommendations of
your zoo nutritionist. |
